Working mens clubs are on the decline across the UK.
Once a community hub; gentrification, bargain basement booze and little interest from the younger generation who would have once stepped into their parents club going shoes, their members are rapidly dwindling.
Dunston Social Club – The Clav – has lost 200 members in 3 years down to them not actually being able to physically make it the club, or, they have passed away.
Still, they are community driven. The Clav hosts a number of events: weekly singers in the lounge, a Rock n Roll dance night twice a month, and their concert room hosts bands, partied and weddings, along side the main stay of bingo and dominoes.
