Bruce Gilden

Coney Island is where it all started. In the late 1960s, just one year after picking up his first camera, Bruce took the subway from Brooklyn to the beach and started shooting. He kept going back for two decades, through the 1970s and 1980s. The resulting book, published in 2002, gathers photographs from those years alongside Bruce's own handwritten recollections. No other photographer has documented Coney Island with this kind of honesty
or this kind of affection.
