Bruce Gilden
Fashion Magazine
Published by Magnum Photos in 2006, Fashion Magazine was built on a simple and completely radical premise: one photographer shoots everything inside the issue, including the ads. Bruce structured his edition around the seven deadly sins of fashion, working with New York Times fashion editor Anne Christensen and contributors including Hedi Slimane, Viktor & Rolf, Azzedine Alaia, Ingrid Sischy, and Bob Colacello. The result is a collector's object that functions as both a fashion publication and a full-scale act of subversion. Bruce brought his irreverence and his obsession with character to an industry that rewards neither, and produced something the industry still hasn't quite caught up to.
