Lost and Found

Lost and Found

Lost and Found began with a move and a filing cabinet. When Bruce relocated from his Mercer Street loft, he rediscovered roughly 2,000 rolls of 35mm film from his early years on the streets of New York, spanning 1978 to 1984, work he had shot before the flash became his signature. Almost none of it had ever been seen.

Published by Editions Xavier Barral and exhibited at 10 Corso Como New York in early 2020, in collaboration with Magnum Photos, the project revealed a Bruce most people had never encountered: looser, quieter, just as uncompromising. His words on the work said it best. This is Bruce before he became Bruce.
