Alexandre Bassard - How To Get Caught

When he is arrested, Andrew is forced to accept a deal offered by the FBI: rot in prison or work for them by infiltrating a gang of robbers. What begins as a way out quickly turns into a brutal lesson in how to survive the worst possible situations.

Director Statement

For my first short film, I wanted to create a dark comedy that plays with the clichés of classic gangster movies. I aimed for an American-style script offbeat, bold, and driven by a fully embraced sense of comedy.

Conceived as a tribute to the filmmakers who have shaped my imagination, this project confronts the traditional codes of the genre with a more contemporary approach to storytelling and direction. Balancing respect for tradition with a desire to challenge it, the film seeks to create a work that feels both familiar and surprising distinctive and unapologetically singular.
